The use of line scan cameras is suitable wherever material is continuously produced and conveyed. A typical application area for line scan cameras is in non-contact surface inspection. A wide variety of materials such as paper, cardboard, plastic, sheet metal, film, wood, coatings, or various types of flooring can be examined for the smallest defects such as inclusions, holes, specks, stains, scratches, cracks, pilling, or texture differences during the production process.
Width measurement of paper, sheet metal, wood, film, or other products is also a classic measurement task for line scan cameras.
For monitoring large widths or for highly accurate length measurement, the use of multiple synchronized cameras is possible. Other application areas include, among others, tear detection at web edges, gap measurement between two or more material webs, height measurement of objects, and level control.
In object counting, various objects can be captured and counted at high speed. This also enables a completeness check, for example, in the packaging area.
